About this project
Transparency for the Metal and Electrical Industry
Welcome to Metalltarife.de – the free and independent project for wage transparency in the German metal and electrical industry.
This project was born out of a personal need to quickly and easily calculate ERA salaries and collectively agreed benefits. While collective bargaining agreements can often be complex and difficult to understand, our salary calculator provides an easy starting point to better understand your own gross salary.
In addition to the IG Metall Salary Calculator, we also offer current wage tables and a Gross-Net Calculator to accurately simulate your net earnings taking taxes and social security contributions into account. Furthermore, we support multiple languages so that non-German speaking employees can completely understand their bargaining rights without difficulty.
Our Mission
Our main goal is to provide employees in the metal and electrical industry with a transparent and easy-to-use tool. It is often unclear exactly how the monthly and annual salary is composed of:
- the ERA basic salary,
- the personal performance allowance,
- special payments such as holiday pay and Christmas bonus,
- as well as the collectively agreed additional money (T-ZUG A and B) and the transformation money.
We want every employee to understand their payslip and easily trace it. Our calculator clearly and transparently breaks down these complex tariff components on a monthly and annual basis.
Data Sources and Timeliness
We maintain the collective bargaining data sheets with the utmost care. The basis of our calculations are the collective agreements and ERA wage tables published by the trade unions (especially IG Metall) and employers' associations for the approximately 15 different tariff areas (from Baden-Württemberg to Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia to the coast).
Important Note: Metalltarife is a private and 100% independent project. We are in no direct connection with the IG Metall trade union or employers' associations. All calculations are made to the best of our knowledge and belief, but explicitly without legal guarantee. For binding legal or collective bargaining information, please contact your works council, your responsible union or your employer.
Technology and Privacy
Our platform is continuously developed and updated to the latest bargaining rounds. The privacy of our users is our highest priority: Our calculator works entirely without server communication. This means all computations take place locally directly in your browser. No salary data, no inputs, and no personal information are transmitted to or stored on our servers.
